Incorporated in 1992, Jammat Housing and Community Development Corporation (JHCDC) is a 501 (C)(3), non-profit corporation. The mission of the agency is to develop and operate programs that substantially improve the quality of life for the residents of the State of Rhode Island. Our agency currently serves the entire State with program operating in Providence, Pawtucket and Warwick. Our Corporation has been fully committed to improve the quality of live of the clients we serve as well as our employees.
Our Corporate motto is "People Making A Difference." We believe that by investing the proper resources in people, we can help them make a difference in the communities that they serve. Our programs include educational and supportive services such as childcare, a therapeutic middle school and residential care for juveniles. Jammat Housing and Community Development Corporation operates several community based programs including Beautiful Beginnings Child Care Center, The Elmwood Community School and Turning The Corner Group Homes.
Beautiful Beginnings Child Care Center
The mission of Beautiful Beginnings Child Care Center is to provide high quality, affordable child care and education for children from birth though age six. We are accredited by NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This is a mark of quality that only 15% of child care centers in Rhode Island have earned. We serve 100 Children from infancy through Kindergarten and are licensed by the Department of Education, and the Department of Children Youth and Family.
Beautiful Beginnings has been in operation since 1999 and we are continually working to insure that we provide the highest quality of care for the children and families at our center. We have a beautiful new facility that is spacious with ample room in the classrooms and outside on the playground for children learn and explore.
Elmwood Community School
The mission of Elmwood Community School is to provide high quality educational, vocational and therapeutic services to middle school students with special needs with the goal of successfully reintegrating them back into the schools system. This is achieved by providing a strong educational curriculum, intensive counseling and social skills development and collaborating with other community based agencies to support our student's growth.
The Elmwood Community School is a small school for students that have not had success in traditional public school environments and need therapeutic interventions to learn behaviors that will lead to success in school and life. Our student are referred from the Providence School Department's Office of Special Populations.
Turning The Corner Group Homes
Turning The Corner Group Homes consist of seven (7) programs, a hospital diversion program, two (2) shelters, one boys, one girls, two (2) sex offender treatment programs, a program for the developmentally delayed and a Drop In Center. The group homes are DCYF licensed and CARF accredited, and if you walked into any one of them you would get the sense of being in a home and not a shelter.
