Housing Navigator will provide housing navigation and case management services for the clients identified in the program. The Housing Navigator will collaborate and network with multiple homeless service agencies to help individuals and families.  This position will work with agency case managers assigned to assist them in expediting the housing identification and transition process.  Will assess housing needs of clients, identify appropriate housing, build relationships with landlords, responsible for housing inspections, and review leases for compliance with the landlord-tenant law. 

Should issues arise, the Navigator will be the primary contact and will assist the client to address situations by providing counseling and other services that are needed to resolve the issue.  Work to support positive tenant and landlord resolutions.  May also conduct or coordinate educational groups for clients, such as financial literacy and Ready to Rent groups.  It is the expectation that the Housing Navigator will adhere to the highest standards of the agency and fulfill their job requirements.  Attendance at trainings such that the Navigator becomes an expert in the following areas: identifying appropriate permanent housing options for clients such as subsidized housing, VASH, Shelter Plus Care; developing and maintaining a database of various types of housing stock available; locating housing that meets fair market rent requirements; preparing rent reasonableness reports for units; and evidence-based assessments.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is a must! 

Education/Licensing Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service related field preferred.  Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.  Demonstrated experience working with housing is helpful.  Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply!
